There is so much going on....

Last summer Sunny became a Mommy after a very long, persistant journey.
Unfortunately 2 out of her 3 babies were boys and we are not zoned for roosters here. The first one-Cassanova grew up to be a big beautiful boy with a very loud voice. I was able to find a new, happy home for him

I actually traded Cassanova for a tiny hen that didn't fit in where she lived. Her name is Bronzel, she's a tiny bantam & cute & she's a good companion for Sunny's other bantam baby Farrah

Then there was Billy,a bantam or half sized Rooster. he didn't crow right away but after a while he got really good at it. He also really like mating the girls. Some of them were even afraid of him because he was constantly trying to hump them LOL. Then he got into a big fight with Daphne to the point that they were both bloody.

I knew he had to go, so after searching for a while I finally found a new home for him on a farm about two weeks ago.
Oddly my neighbors said they miss hearing him crow!
Meanwhile Daphne had been acting very weak & sick, I was hoping she would perk up after Billy was gone. Daphne & my other original birds are 4 years old now, five is old for a chicken.
Sadly my beloved Daphne died on Wednesday, she was the ultimate lap chicken. She loved to be carried around, she was smart & took care of the flock, there will never be another girl like Daphne. Chat Icon
She even liked having her picture taken with Santa

however there is some good news, Sunny & Bronzel have both decided they want to be Mommies and yesterday we candled(like a chicken sonogram) their eggs and most of them are fertile!

So before Billy went to his new home he mated with most of the girls and they layed fertile eggs that Sunny & Bronzel are now incubating. So in a couple of weeks we could have babies that will actually be the genetic offspring of my original flock!!!
Its so exciting!
I will update soon
