I hope this does not come out wrong...

I love my stepson, I really do, but I seriously hate him lately. He is 17 and got his license about two months ago....we have seen him once since. I know its his age and now he has his car so he wants to be out with his friends, but he has not been here in a month. He lives in the same damn town as us and not so much as a stop over to say hi to his sister. She adores him, and he has never really given her the time of day. I am so ****** and feel so bad for her. All she does is ask for him and I can never even tell her he is coming over, because he is just too busy for us. I seriously want to slap him upside the head. DH is no help, because he just doesn't even care. He is not super close with is son, his ex didn't let him see him for MANY years, so there really was not relationship til he was 8. But they had built one and now, its gone, whatever there was to it. I probably wouldn't care so much, but I feel bad for DD. I kinda wish she had just never met him.

Then there is the fact that he probably does not want to come because we are always asking him about jobs, if he found one, what he plans to do after high school etc. His mother just got him a car and is not making him look for a job etc. I seriously think that is horrible and can't wait for the day we get a call because his car needs to be fixed....I will laugh my butt off. My parents never would have allowed me to have a car if I could not pay for it when I was younger...this kid has absolutely no responsibility and it ticks me off...I don't know why.

Oh well, I could write 10 more pages, but just needed to get some off my chest. I am sooo sad for DD. This is the reason I am absolutely having another child, so my DD will have a sibling. Any time my DH says she has a brother I want to slug him, I do not consider him a brother.

vent away...blended families can be very stressful...hopefully he will realize that he needs to spend more time w/your family as he grows (teenagers are usually very self absorbed) - in time he will realize who has truly been there looking out for his best interests

'Tis the age. The most important thing is that you and DH are on the same page. Don't let yourselves be manipulated into caring for SS the way you both think is right.

Thank you...I texted him the other night asking him if he was coming over this weekend...his response was....I think I am going to my friends baseball game on Saturday. I didn't even bother responding back. I am done. I started jsut mailing the child support checks to his mother's house. I give up. One day he'll realize what he is missing.
