IVF without BCP
Has anyone done IVF without BCP? My next cycle wont include them so i am not sure of the general protocol. I know each person is different.

Re: IVF without BCP
My 1st cycle did not include BCP...I started Lupron on CD21 (week after O) and then I got my AF and then started stimms...
BCP is NOT necessary for IVF but it is given to patients to control their cycles (it is much easier for clinics to control the timing of IVF that way since some women are not regular)
GL!

Re: IVF without BCP
Thanks so much. I guess my cycle will be pushed back a month. I got the go ahead and was paying my co-pay on sat but today is cd22 for me. I cant be on the BCP pills this time since i have a clotting disorder and was lucky last cycle that the clot was small and didnt move out of my leg.

Re: IVF without BCP
I didn't use BCP bc I am not allowed to. Lupron was what I started on.

Re: IVF without BCP
My protocol didn't involve BCP. I did IVF with Columbia.
ETA: Started Lupron after AF with my IVF cycle.

Re: IVF without BCP
My first IVF cycle was w/ BCP and we had pretty crummy quality embies ( ended up with a chemical)
My 2nd cycle we omitted the BCP ( and changed some other stim drigs) and changed over to Lupron and my quality was phenomenal ( and I had my DD)

Re: IVF without BCP
Thanks Bops.. my one embie was good last time but they couldnt retrieve more than one egg. I'm hoping it might help with implantation since i have a clotting disorder.

Re: IVF without BCP
I was not put on BCP either for my IVF cycle. If you are pretty regular, they may not need BCP. I think another reason they px BCP is to make sure that your follicles are growing with similiar sizes. For example, if you produce 6 follicles, they want them to be close in size and not 22mm, 22mm, 20mm and the last 3 being less than 10mm since that won't benefit you.
Good luck!

IVF is so trial and error and sometimes the slightest bit of tweeking is all you need ...
I am not familiar with clotting , but did you do assisted hatching last time ? If not, you may want to ask about that as well...Good Luck !!!!

Re: IVF without BCP
I haven't done IVF yet, but just had my consult and my RE said no BCP for me, since I ovulate regularly. HTH!

Re: IVF without BCP
Thanks bops. I did have assisted hatching done on a day 3 transfer.
FYI, my clotting disorder means my blood likes to clot and clots very easily. I rarely get any black and blues and was put on lovenox last cycle to make my lining a little softer for implantation.
I do ovualate very regularly. Never missed a cycle. I understand about having the follies all different sizes but that did happen last cycle and i was on bcp. I also had to stay on them longer and did put my "normal" routine out of cycle. It was found that my uterus was lined with polyps so there was no place for the embie to implant. I have them removed two days before starting stims and on my last day of bcp.
