Why oh why do older women...
feel it is their DUTY to tell me all the freaking time, "You think you know it ALL, but you'll see, you know NOTHING about babies!"
Ok, first of all, I NEVER said I know it all. I never said I even know half of it. I just answered, "Yes, I have had experience with babies before," when you asked me. 
Shut up and let me be!!!!!!
Oh, and while you're at it, stop telling me that labor will be a horrible mess all because I didn't take lamaze!

Ugh, I'm sorry you are getting this.
I hate when people would tell me their labor horror story, or their friend's. One, it's too late, I'm already pregnant and can't go back and undo it, why would you freak me out more? And two, with all the people who have more than one child, it can't be that bad for everyone (and it isn't, mine wasn't bad at all.)
When I was pregnant with Sarah, we had Empire Carpet in for an estimate and the sales lady spent a half an hour telling us how she has some weird hormone thing and she's allergic to her menstrual cycle and it was so much worse when she was pregnant - on and on and on. I thought DH was going to pass out he was so grossed out.

I'm convinced some women are just mean. I think a lot of older women are jealous.
I had one tell me "the pain...it is 100 time worse than you can ever imagine..."
Uh HELLO!!??? I can imagine it is painful squeezing a canteloupe out of my body but I don't need to hear about how painful it is from menopausal Mabel!! I don't need to hear "Back in my day..."

Tell them your uterus is made of steel & they are a wimp. For me, the pain was 1000x LESS than what I imagined because of the very people telling me how badly it hurt -2 births, no epidural because I kept waiting until "it gets really bad."
Also I can tell you that they don't know it all either. Didn't you see the post on Parenting where a MIL called up & asked how is she supposed to go to the bathroom if the baby keeps crying.
We all just wing it.
