15% rebate for energy efficient windows?
I read in newsday yesterday that the federal government reimburses you if you install energy efficient windows. Has anyone does this and how does it work?

I think it just comes off your taxes when you files next year. We installed a new oil burner in 2009 and we were able to write off a portion of the cost on our taxes.

That is correct, it is claimed as a credit on your tax return - 30% up to a total of $1500 (30% 0f $5000).

We are looking into getting new windows and this is what we were told: You get back 30% of the material cost, up to $1500. You get it back as part of your refund. The window guys said to max it out, we would have to spend at least $8500 (labor and materials).
