Moms of 2 or more

Did you go into labor at a similar time as your first? Meaning if you were late with your first, were you late with your other children?

I'm due 6/27, my doctor is going away 6/10 through 6/22 or 6/30 (depends on if the US gets into the second round of the World Cup) and I'm totally freaked out. He's a sole practioner who the whole time through both pregnancies assured me he'd be the one to deliver my babies and now this. Chat Icon

He says that I'll most likely go late since I would have been late with Sarah had I not been induced, but my mom was 3 weeks late with me and 1 day early with my brother, so that doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks!
Cathy

That's a big window of time that he'll be absent. How can he say with any sense of accuracy when you will go? Babies come when they come! There's no magic timer!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'd be upset too but try not to give it too much worry - you need to concentrate on your baby.

Who will be responsible for delivering if he's not around? Chat Icon

He has another doctor covering for him that I'll meet in early June. I just feel like he's feeding me a line so I don't get upset in his office, but I picked him for a reason - he's a great surgeon and my friend who had 2 c-sections with him had a very quick recovery. It would have been nice to have him there just in case I need a section, you know?

I dont understand the whole concept of you going later with #2 b/c #1 was late. If anything, Ive heard you go progressively earlier with each pregnancy most of the time. My first was 5 days late and my second was 9 days early.

Hmm, I feel so bad for you! I go to a sole practicioner too and I'd be miffed if he was gone that long. Anyway, I was early with both, 3 weeks with the first, 10 days with the second. The labors were very different. With my first, my water broke and I had a c/s (he was breech). I never had one contraction or labor. With my most recent, I went into labor and had a VBAC. The c/s was nice because I had no labor, but the VBAC was better because of the recovery!
