need advice please
hi all .. hope you had a good weekend.
so here is the deal....did medicated timed bd cycle this month . go for beta tues. i really dont think i am pg. but hey if i am great...but i need your advice.
if this doest work..what would you do in this scenario.
my hubby may or may not lose his current insurance within the next 2-5 months... ( hard to explain...goverment issues)
okay so right now we are for sure covered for iuis and ivf. old insurance and most he has had does not cover ivf.
i told dr b about this last month andhe said well if time wasnt an issue with insuranc ei might try a couple iui's on you first , but i fyou might lose ivf coverage perhaps its something just to do right away if this cycle doesnt work.
i am going to check with insurance tomorrow to see if they require iui first ( but i dont think so)
so................ is jumping the gun and going straight to ivf something you would do in this scenario? or should i do an iui one month and then try ivf the next......
so torn!!!!!!!!!!!
i also felt very sick on the meds this month and just dont want to keep going through it. not like any of us do.
any thoughts ....feeling sad and ughs! ty so much for listening xooxxo

Re: need advice please
If there is a good chance you may not have IVF coverage in a few months, I would go for it! As long as your insurance has no limitations or rules ( with a certain number of IUI's prior), then I would go right to your best chance with teh IVF. Especially if you think the insurance he is expecting to receive will not have coverage.
I have not been through IUI/IVF myself. But what if you have a few IUI's that fail then you want to move on to IVF and his new insurance wont cover it....that will be a lot of money out of pocket.
I would go right to IVF in your situation. Whatever you choose, wich you the best of luck!!

Re: need advice please
I read this earlier and felt I needed to think about this one before responding It really is a personal decision. I would say talk to Dr.B and see what he thinks based on similar cases, experiences, etc. and then use that as you guide when you make the decision with your DH. It's a tough situation.. Before I started IUIs I would have said just go for the IUI and you will be golden, but having had my first IUI fail and not sure yet how the second will pan out, I'm not so sure what I would do.....

Re: need advice please
I can't give you advice on something that is such a personal decision. BUTTT i will tell you what i would do
Coming from someone who has been trying for 2 years, plus having 3 back to back IUI's. I would jump to IVF. I can't b/c my stupid insurance requires a ridiculous number of IUI's before they cover it. If my insurance would have covered it, i would have gone to IVF after the 2nd failed cycle. So many drugs, so many appointments, so MUCH of everything, and such a SMALL percentage of it working It is such an emotional roller coaster, i just want it to end now and am willing to do anything to give me better chances. You are EXTREMELY lucky to have insurance coverage. Everyone needs to do what is right for them but like the above poster said, talk to Dr. B, weigh out the pros and cons and make a decision that you, your DH and Dr. B are comfortable with.
I wish you the best in whatever decision you make !!!!
And lots of

Re: need advice please
First, I def. think you have to think about your decisions thoroughly and not jump into anything. We are already full of emotions so a clear head is def. needed too. Second, ask Dr. B. He speaks the truth and knows whats good for you. Third, check with your insurance so you know 100% what is covered. Im in the same situation as you, just found out on Fri that I wasn't pregnant but after speaking with Dr. B we decided to do the same protocol of IUI and meds. For me, I've conceived 4 times so I was willing to give it a "go" once more. I know IVF is not a walk in the park so I want to make sure I'm ready and comfortable with that course of action. Best of luck with your decision.

Re: need advice please
wow thats such a tough decision. at first i was thinking no way would i go to IVF so quick (just because of all the meds and what not) - but as i thought about it longer im really torn for you!! i guess if i had time for one more IUI or timed BD cycle i would def try to do that first but if theres a chance that time will run out...
anyway good luck with your beta tomorrow!! maybe you wont have to make this decision at all
