Re: Just need to Vent...
Ok...where is this house? I would take all those things and move right in....six months will go quicly for you to wait it out
Seriously, if you are going to upgrade the floors, appliances, paint, etc...it might be more cost effective to wait. When you are working with the builder from the beginning, you can pick this things for an upchage, rather than having to buy them all over again.
The pool and deck will probably cost the same in the long run.

Re: Just need to Vent...
If that's the case, on the savings, figure out how much you will be spending on fixing it to your taste, verses waiting out the new one.

Re: Just need to Vent...
If you are sure of the prices between the upgrades from the builder and doing it yourself...then you should save the $$$ and do it yourself.
Manorville is too far for me...shucks

Re: Just need to Vent...
My friend just had a brand new house built with the extras when they probably could have done lot of it much cheaper. see the post today about discount appliances. There are great deals to be had even with top of the line stuff

well heres the other thing.. the builder would charge about double or tripple the price it would cost from lets say home depot.. They wanted about 10 dollars a square foot for laminate wood floor.. about 4,000 for a nicer fridge ( saw the same one in lowes for 1,500) So DH says we are gonna save TONS of money doing it ourselves anyways... and that this works out better for us..
all the appliances are already nice.. I just wanted real top of the line stuff
ETA.. its in manorville
Well, my parents are selling their house, its in Manor Park (ESM school). It is on a dead end, huge property, hardwood floors throughout, pool in the back and a fully finished basement apartment. If you want I could set up a showing for you, I think they're listing it at around 420,000.

Re: Just need to Vent...
OMG, I totally hear you... I have the house. The bare bones house. No paint, no recessed lighting, no built-ins, small closets, and no molding. We have the deck and the pool, but that is it. It is killing me!!!

Re: Just need to Vent...
I am sure this is stressful, but I would look at it like an opportunity to get the house exactly like you want. It might take you a little longer to do, but I think you could get the upgrades you want for less than the builder would charge you. You would also have a greater range of selections if you went out on your own and purchased the items and if you have new duplicates try to sell them on craigslist or ask the builder if he would keep the basic stove. washer/dryer and give you a credit for them.
