FET- What meds were you on and what are they for ?

I'm reading some people are on Lupron or BCP's (and other RX's) before an FET cycle and some just take estrace and PIO....

Why is this ?

Thanks Chat Icon

Re: FET- What meds were you on and what are they for ?

I was BCP first because I never got a period after DD was born and they needed me to have a bleed before starting the cycle.

Lupron for the entire cycle (to suppress ovaries)

Estrace - I was on ALOT of it and had to take it vaginally because my body was not responding to it quick enough orally. My first FET cycle was canceled because my lining never thickened up.

And also, like a fresh IVF cycle, I had to take antibotics (zpack for me since I don't tolerate doyxcilclone), and then the medrol after transfer. They also kept me on the estrace until beta day.

And of course the lovely PIO shots. (I had to start them 5 days before my transfer).

I was on a natural FET cycle so I only took Progesterone Supps - starting on the day of the transfer.

I did estrogen patches and PIO. I am 7 weeks pregnant now and the RE is going to start weaning me off the estrogen.

I would LOVE to know this too as I am going to be doing a FET in June and my RE told me I would just need estrogen and PIO for it. I was suprised:) I still don't get it since I did BCP and Lupron before my FRESH IVF cycle when I had my DD.

Why do you ladies think this is?

I do get a period each month, whether I actually ovulate or not is another story:)

It's basically just medicated vs. natural.

My RE prefers to do medicated because you can literally pick the day of your transfer (so for mine, I always picked a Friday so I'd have the weekend to rest or a day of vacation).

I ovulated on my own, but he preferred this way so we could time it. It was a 6 week process with the meds. I have all of the info in my blog I think!

See I don't ovulate on my own ...

Since having DD I do get a bleed more or less every month ( or month and a half) but my OB did bloodwork and said its annovulatory bleeding...I told the RE this and he said just estrogen patches and PIO Chat Icon
