my dog is just about 2.5 yrs old now and i've noticed a few changes recently. one, he always squatted when he pees, and he's just begun lifting his leg and marking. he used to just pee once or twice on a walk, and now it's 3-4 times! i felt so proud of him the first time he fully lifted his leg, but i hope he keeps squatting b/c i think it's so cute. it reminds me of when he was a puppy.

also, he's become a bit more selective about who he plays with, and just a little more skittish around big dogs (he's a terrier, so he's small). before, he'd just walk right up to them and sniff sniff and try to play w/ them. now he is more timid and sometimes will growl.

Has anyone else ever noticed changes in their dogs behaviors or personality as they got older? besides elderly dogs getting snappish that is.

I remember Bruno squatting for a while but he's almost 9 so I don't remember when he stopped.
Now as an old man, he has started to do it from time to time.
Vito is almost 3 and can't decide whether he wants to stop squatting completely.

Bruno has always liked every dog except for one.
Vito is more selective nowadays and gets spooked by other dogs.
He looks to Bruno for reassurance.

They're both yorkies and have all the crazy terrier traits which sometimes makes them unpredictable with other dogs.

Is he neutered?

Our youngest dog used to sqaut when he was a puppy. He started to lift his leg around his 1st birthday (few months before). It's so cute! He's little so it looks like he's about to tip over sometimes!
That's when he started marking everything in sight.
We go him neutered, but he still lifts his leg. He doesn't mark in the house anymore but he still does it outside.

Our older dog, who we got at 3 years old was neutered right before we got hime. He sqauts (cute to see, he squats so low, lol)
He RARELY marks anything. Maybe a tree or a sidewalk once in a while.
