Punta Cana Dominican Republic
We booked a week at the Club Med, DR. They called us yesterday to say that some corporation called and booked the whole resort and it overlapped the time we would be there. They asked us to change our dates, which isnt a problem for us at all. They will pay airline fees and give us credit to spent at the resort.
My issue is that we were booking for early October. Does anyone have any info as far as going in later October and hurricanes? If we push it to mid/late Oct, are we getting risky with the weather?
Thanks!

It's always risky in hurricane season, but that's what trip insurance is for. Enjoy your trip!

hurricane season is from June 1- Nov 30... so I'd say the later you go, the better...

Re: Punta Cana Dominican Republic
From my understanding the DR does not get hit too often by hurricanes. I went there in July (2 yrs ago) and had no issues. It did rain at nite, maybe for 20-30 minutes, but it was a relief of the days heat. I would go back in a heartbeat at any time of the year.
And as a PP said - trip insurance is always good.

That late in the season, hurricanes tend to hit further north (US Coast) rather than in the Caribbean. I wouldn't worry. Enjoy your trip !
