bittersweet
After I knew I didn't have to do any more experiments for my dissertation, I took home my favorite 2 lab birds on Friday. I have 2 female birds already and these 2 are males. I love them so much and thought they would be sooo happy to have a different life. Well, one bird is happy as a clam, he's the alpha male and he's loving life. The other bird is low bird on the totem pole and everyone is so mean to him I know it'll take a few days to get the cage dynamics stable, and I know if worse comes to worse I can separate the alpha male out so the other male can get comfortable. But it's soo hard seeing poor Moonshine on the bottom of the cage in a corner, just chased by everyone else. I KNOW I have to let them work it out, but it's just hard to see. That's all, just wanted to vent.
But I know that eventually they will all be happy, so I am glad I took them home It'll just take a while.
ETA: I'll take pictures once I know everyone is happy.
