Day 3 testing question
Hi ladies,
I just had my random Day 3 testing done and just got my results.
My FSH & E2 are great but I also had LRH testing done (to measure my ovarian reserve-never had this done or heard of). The LRH came back at 2.4, which the nurse said it was ok but "decreasing". She then hang up so I didn't get a chance to ask any questions.
I don't know what the normal levels are (can't find it anywhere on the web) and now I am a little concerned she said "decreasing".....
Anyone know what they mean or should be? TIA!

Re: Day 3 testing question
Are you sure it wasn't AMH testing?
I had that done and was told it was to get an idea of your ovarian reserve....
My RE had said that 1.0 means you have an adequate number of eggs.

Re: Day 3 testing question
Thank you for your reply but it is not AMH testing....
LRH - Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone: A hormone that controls sex hormones in men and women. Also called LHRH.
My RE ordered it to see my ovarian reserve...apparently it is a test that gives them an idea (similar to FSH) of how many eggs I have left....

Re: Day 3 testing question
Hi. I've never heard of the LRH test so I don't know what the average level should be. When I did a search on google, the only things I kept on seeing are articles about insufficient data to support the test result to ovarian reserve diminish. Of course, I'm no doctor so I would definitely suggest you call your dr ASAP and ask him/her to explain to you what that means. That was pretty rude of the nurse to hang up just like that! Look on the bright side, if it's something bad, I think the dr. would have called you personally, rather having a nurse do it. When i got my elevated FSH result from my Day 3 bloodwork, the RE called instead of a nurse. Good luck! Here's one of the articles that I found.

Thank you for the link but it doesn't list the normal LHRH levels (not to be confused with LH levels).....
I am looking everywhere on the web but can't find any info it....it must be a very new fertility test....I have been with Cornell for the past 3 years and never had this test done...

Re: Day 3 testing question
Levels start to "decrease" when you are in your 30's (mid). Does that apply to you (age)? This may be the case. I don't think you should worry because your levels seem fine.

Re: Day 3 testing question
My friend had that test and came back with similar results, think she had 2.5. She was very upset. Her IVF cycle only yielded 3 eggs, 2 out of 3 were mature, fertilized and were 8-cell on 3dt. It didn't work. HOWEVER, she got pregnant naturally while waiting to cycle again and just had baby #2 5 months ago. So, don't take it too literally that this means much. Probably means you wont get 30 eggs if you have to do IVF. Doesn't mean the quality wont be there. I actual think her IVF cycle didn't work because they had trouble getting the catheter in at transfer. Probably too much trauma for the uterus.

Re: Day 3 testing question
Here, I found this...
What is the Luteinizing Hormone Test?
The LH test is a simple blood test . It is typically measured on Day 3, along with the FSH testand the estradiol test.
What do the Results Mean?
On Day 3, normal LH values are between 3 and 10 mIU/mL. LH levels can also be artificially raised by ovulation inducing drugs such as clomiphene citrate ( clomid).
Low levels of LH ( less than 2 mIU/ml) are found in a condition called hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Women on birth control pills as well as pregnant women also have low levels of FSH.
LH levels are usually interpreted in conjunction with the FSH levels. Normally, the ratio is 1, which means the FSH level and LH level are approximately the same. In patients with polycystic ovarian disease ( PCOD) , this ratio is reversed; and patients with PCOD typically have a high LH level and a normal FSH level. This is called a reversal of the FSH:LH ratio; and in patients with PCOD it is 2 or more.
Hope this helps! GL!
