50 of Clomid?
Hello, starting next month my RE is going to be putting me on 50 of clomid. I was wondering what days will I be taking this on and is this a low dosage? Im not sure what the lowest dosage is. He said this month since Im new, hes going to monitor me and run some more tests and get a sperm analysis from DH.
Will I get side effect from 50 of clomid? TIA

I believe 50mg is the lowest dosage. That's what I started off at and it had zero affect on me. Doctors like to start you out at the lowest dose and increase it based on your reaction to it. I started taking it on CD3 and was on it for 5 days.

Yea I head 50mg was the lowest. This was basically my protocol, only with femera. They start you off low and build up based on how you respond!

But oh man now I wish he could have started me off with it this month... now I have to wait until next month on the lowest dosage.. NOOOOOOOO LOL!!! Im so tired of waiting.
He also said that he can try IUI or do the timed method and DH said that he wants to try timed first bc he wants it to be "natural" .... I understand but Im just so frustrated that I want it to happen already.

Good thing is, if they don't see that you are responding to the 50mg, they can just increase your dosage without bringing on AF in between.
I agree with your DH, actually. I would try timed intercourse for at least 1 cycle before jumping to IUI. JMO.

It's true.... I was doing a protocol for like a month before we found the right dosage to produce follies!! If 50mg of clomid doesn't work, they can bump you up right away!!
As for IUI vs. natural, you never know how you and DH will feel down the line. We started the first cycle planning on doing timed intercourse, but in that time I ended up going on injections and it was hard to come up with the right dosage. After all that work, we decided to give the IUI a try....... It's a personal choice! I could definitely see both sides on this one!!!
I'm so glad you went and have a protocol!!

Like the others said, 50mg is the lowest dosage I've seen women take. My doc started me on 100mg and I took it CD3 - CD7. Some of the side effects I experienced: EXTREME mood swings (I cried constantly and was snapping at everyone) and some issues with going to the bathroom. I have a sono tomorrow to see if I responded to it. One thing you should know if you can only take Clomid for a total of 12 cycles in your lifetime. It can also dry up your CM so you may want to take Mucinex or Robitussion, or use PreSeed, while on the Clomid.
My doc gave us the same options and told us we could be as aggressive as we want. We've decided to do a couple of timed intercourse cycles if I respond and then move to IUI if necessary.

I was on 50 mg and my body repsonded very well with just that. I was able to get at least 2 mature eggs each time and I got pregnant on my second cycle. Everybody is different so your dr. will adjust the dosage if needed. We also wanted to try timed intercourse the first few times but after the first cycle didnt work we did an IUI the next and it worked! Good luck!!!

As of now, I think we are going to try the 50mg with timed intercourse for next month and then after that... maybe move onto the IUI. Hopefully it'll work the 1st time
