anyone taken letrozole? sp ty

dr b wants to try letrozole and a hcg injection this month..but not do iui ...trying this first..

anyone taken letrozole? or this protocol? any side effects i should know about? of course i will ask him...but its good to hear from the ladies ty so much xoxo

I took 2.5 mg of Letrozole and didn't respond at all to it... so we upped it to 5mg and I ultimately ended up needing a combo with injections.

I don't mean to scare you though!!! That drug (alone) works for MANY people!!!!!!! It seems like Dr.B is confident you will have success with just letrozole and Ovidrel (that's the HCG trigger).

As far as side effects, I had NONE on either amount (2.5 or 5). I was nervous I would feel something but I never did Chat Icon I think it's known to be good with side effects, as opposed to Clomid which is known to have much more side effects.

you see dr b too?

i know he will explain how it works more on monday ..but do you usually tke the letrozole and then go in at a certain time for a hcg shot?

excited and nervous all at the same time!!!

oh and what do you do if you have to work and you get a call to come in and get a shot? just lie to the bosses? so new at this secret ttc thing( secret meaning work related :) lol ty so much xoxo

I took it for 5 days 2 pills a day. Then we had a sono sched to see if any eggs matured. I was on 2.5 I responded both times I used it. Then after the sono since he thought the eggs have matured I had the trigger shot that night but then the next 2 days I had my IUI so I guess rnext day after trigger you BD Chat Icon

Yup, I am another Dr.B fan!

When you finish one course of Letrozole you will go in to get monitored to see how it worked, etc. For the HCG shot, for me anyway, I gave it to myself. I know most people give it to themselves. You get the prescription for the injection and it's actually REALLY easy.

As far as I know, you will never just get called one day and they tell you to come in THAT DAY for anything... that hasn't ever happened to me anyway!

I have had to come in late to work or leave early for a variety of reasons (monitoring appts, IUI). I also work about an hour away from the office so if I schedule the latest appt I still sometimes have to leave like a half hour early to get there on time.. I teach and my principal knows my situation. I told my asst. principal too since we are very close and she even opened up to me about her own fertility issues! That's definitely not the case with everyone on here- some don't tell their boss- I just happened to tell mine since I have a good relationship with them and they are EXTREMELY supportive and understanding. When I have to make it to an appt I just let my principal know and without blinking an eye he tells me to mark it down in the book so I get covered for that period. For me, I felt it was best to be honest because I was afraid of him thinking I might be seriously sick if I am constantly going to appts. I just wanted to be open about it. You have to feel out your own situation though. There are so many differen dynamics at everyone's job so I could totally understand people NOT wanting to tell their boss- and in that situation I would just say I have a medical appt. You don't actually owe anyone an explanation. This stuff is private and you're entitled to confidentiality. Chat Icon
