Whose Responsible?
We have been really happy with our contractor so far. We have done a huge job, and actually ended up replacing 97% of the house.
The front roof isn't finished, and they didn't put a tarp covering it. Because of this, our livingroom was flooded from all the rain (the house is empty) and the wood floors are now ruined
What do we do? Ask him to replace?

Re: Whose Responsible?
I would definitely ask him to replace. The rain wasn't a surprise, it was inn the forecast. He definitely should have covered it, although with the wind we had I am not sure how good a tarp would have been,

Re: Whose Responsible?
It's the contractor's responsibility to cover up and secure everything at the end of their work day. A tarp should be standard practice regardless of rain!

ITA A similar thing happened while my house was being dormered last year. The contracter paid for the repairs.

Re: Whose Responsible?
Similar happened to me when my house was being built... we shoveled snow out of the house 5 times!! The floor were ok, but only because we hadn't left the snow sitting on them!
