IVF Orientation
Morning Ladies! For those of you have done IVF, did your infertility clinic give you an IVF Orientation? This session is suppose to be 4 hours long and I was just wondering what goes on during the orientation?
Thanks!

Re: IVF Orientation
Mine did. I don't recall it being 4 hours long though. I think it was 2 hours.
The nurse that gave the orientation exlplained how the whole process worked and what we should expect before, during and after retrieval as well as the transfer. She also went through how to administer all the injections

Re: IVF Orientation
I don't remember how long ours was, but we did have a "class." We learned about the process, the injections, and then each couple met individually with the woman in the office who deals with insurance companies.

Re: IVF Orientation
Thanks for the information ladies. Just the thought of giving myself a needle is making me SOOOO nervous! I always have to use the butterfly needels (the little ones for babies) whenever I get my blood drawn! I can't imagine sticking myself with a big needle I guess at this point, I'll do anything for having my baby!

The first time made me so anxious, but then it became pretty routine. I started doing all the belly shots myself because the anticipation of my DH doing it made me nuts. He did have to do most of the progesterone shots for me though. I just would move away from the mirror, though.

Re: IVF Orientation
Mine wasn't really a class... more of a sit-down with a nurse who explained everything to me.
Most of the needles you'll use are SUPER thin! I honestly had DH do all of the shots for me because A) i wanted him involved in the process and b) i hate seeing needles! They were not bad at all!
Even when we had to do IM shots... it ended up that the anticipation was much worse than the actual act itself
