Where to go in Caribbean?

So we are currently trying to figure out how we want to spend our lovely federal tax refund. We have been to Jamaica, Riviera Maya (Mexico), and Bahamas. We loved Jamaica (although we didn't like how you couldn't go off the resort).

Here are the options we drafted so far:

1. Puerto Rico
2. Bermuda
3. Aruba (seems kinda expensive though)
4. Punta Cana (although we think it will be same issue as Jamaica)
5. St Thomaas
6. St Marteen

Anyone ever been to any of these islands? If so, opinions?

Out of your list I would go to St. Thomas. Fun Island and lots to do. You can take a day trip to St. John too.

Not on your list is Barbados. We went there in October and had the best time. Flights are direct and it we got a great deal on an all-inclusive.

I went to Punta Cana and LOVED it. We only went off the resourt for a day tour. Although we met seom others that went to some night clubs. But other than that there was no nightlife off the resort.

What part of Jamaica did you go to? I was there in July and we went out on scheduled tours and 1 night to a local club (not a tour)

I've been to Aruba, St. Thomas, and Puerto Rico and Mexico

Aruba LOVED LOVED LOVED. We stayed at the Holiday Inn (all inclusive), and for 3 college girls, it wasn't that expensive. Plus, it doesn't matter when you go, since Arube is out of the hurricane belt.

St. Thomas- LOVED. Stayed at the Wyndam Sugar Bay, again all inclusive, and it was fantastic. Day trips to St. John and Tortola are great, so you'd be seeing other islands.

Puerto Rico= it was ok, like dthe others much better

Mexico- I didn't go to Punta Cana, just Cozumel, but I liked it, although I could totally see your point.

Aruba included all food except room service, and it was non motorized sports like kayaking etc. they did offer discounts on things like snorkeling trips and stuff. there was also a casino in the hotel.

St. Thomas included food from the buffet, I remember there being a fancy restaurant, but I don't remember if it was included or not. I think it was, because why else would 3 college age girls eat thereChat Icon Chat Icon It also included non motorized sports, but the hotel had volleyball and tennis (i think) also that was included.

ETA: The hotel in Aruba had a couple of different restaurants, all were included. There was also an outdoor BBQ luau thing included and a snack bar on the beach. So, pretty much everything!

Re: Where to go in Caribbean?

Definitely St. Maarten. It's so cheap!!!! The people there are very friendly and there is so much to do and see. It's one of our favorite islands.

Re: Where to go in Caribbean?

how about a cruise so you can go to all of them!!! lol!!

my votes are Aruba and St Thomas!

Aruba is great! very safe , everything walking distance (def rec high rise hotels section...we hotel hop each night for dinner) we dont step into a car much more than the airport transfers...maybe once to a dinner in town but the bus is also an option..
my parents have a timeshare at the marriott and we go every year! it is very family friendly as well as honeymoonish romantic (if that is a term!! HAHA!)

St Thomas - my parents used to go every year before their aruba timeshare and I went a couple of times with them..so I was younger..we loved it - the only diff is that you have to cab it to go to diff restaurants and that can add up quickly!

We went to the Sandals in Antigua and absolutely loved it. The island is beautiful and they have great tours. One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.
