Newport Review
We recently spent a few days in Newport, RI and had a great time. We stayed at a timeshare, the Wyndham Inn on the Harbor right on Thames Street. It was a great, central location and had parking available.
We visited three wineries in the area; Sakonnet, Newport, and Greenvale. Sakonnet was the furthest away and by far the best. Great selection of wines, and we were there on Valentine's Day when they served cheese, sweets, cookies and had barrel tastings. Very friendly and accommodating. Greenvale was nice but selection was limited, and Newport was nice, wide selection, but an absolute madhouse. Factory like feeling as opposed to the others.
We also visited the Newport Storm Brewery and the Coddington Ale House. The proprietors at Newport Storm were very accommodating and DH loved their beers.
We toured The Breakers, the Vanderbilt Mansion in Newport. It was absolutely amazing in every way. We did the audio tour and truly enjoyed it. I wish we had toured other mansions, but we had our 4 month old DD with us and she was very well behaved but we didn't want to test it!
We walked around Newport town and did some window shopping - cute shops, great fudge, a lot of things for families to do.
We ate at the Oceanview, Black Rhino and Brick Alley Pub. We loved the Brick Alley and Oceanview. We stayed right across from the Red Parrot and wanted to eat there, but the wait was too long with the baby.
It was a very nice get away and I would HIGHLY recommend Newport to any families. I would love to go back in the summer.

Re: Newport Review
DH and I went last summer for a few days and we really enjoyed it. We stayed at the Hyatt on Goose Island.
We loved the mansion tours, it's was so amazing to see how they lived in the early 1900's. We also went to the Fort (cant remember the name) and that was pretty cool.
We enjoyed the same restaurants you did also. I totally wished we did the winery tours.
