Swimming
Can someone give me perspective on this?
I am swimming now 2-3 times a week. I do laps and change up my stroke sometimes mid lap to shock my muscles a bit. I usually swim for about 30-45 minutes each time, taking a short break every 10 minutes or so..swimming slowly or doing just kicks in an effort to keep my heart pumping.
For the most part my heart rate is up there continuously so I know I'm getting the cardio benefit.
I leave the pool with my muscles feeling warm and worked on but I never feel sore. Should I?
I'm wondering how to make the swimming workout a little more intense other than prolonging it.
TIA!

Re: Swimming
I was a competitive swimmer for 16 years. I was never sore. (well, except when I dislocated my shoulder )
As long as you know your heartrate is in the target zone, you should be good. Are you actually taking your heartrate?

I forgot to say:
Like any type of cardio workout, you can always add in some sprints. But beware of making your workout anaerobic.

ah, tell me what that means?
I do monitor my heart rate and I'm doing sprints.
I just hate wasting my time so I want to make sure my 45 mins gets bang for the buck.
I wish I could find more time and I would do weights first.
