Is my cat the only one?

So I just sat here for three minutes watching my cat at the water bowl. Instead of drinking from it normal, he dips his paw in and then licks the water from it. Its not an every day occurrence but its becoming more frequent.

Also his food bowl, instead of eating from it like a normal cat would do, he removes one piece at a time and eats from the floor.

Re: Is my cat the only one?

My cat is such a messy eater, lol! He'll take food up in his mouth from the bowl and then move and eat over the floor, so he is always dropping food! As for drinking, he's like a camel and only goes to the bowl once a day and just loads up for the whole day.

However.. they BOTH do the food dish thing.... put a few pieces on the floor and eat it off the floor! Chat Icon

Mine does that to his water and food. I think he is playing with his food.

Sometimes he kicks the little food pieces and chases them all over the house.

Yes, my cat does this, always has, and it drives me insane because he gets water everywhere! I let him do it though, it makes him happy.

However, I do have to keep his food and water separate (opposite sides of the room) because he plays with and pounces on his food before eating it, and if it's next to the water, it makes a HUGE mess.

my cat does the same thing with his food but not the water. he actually hates to drink his water from a bowl & only will out of desperation. when i'm home he runs into the bathroom & cries. thats my cue to turn on the bathroom sink, he prefers to drink from the running tap! lol

Re: Is my cat the only one?

stubby would use her paws to drink from the facet at times. We got her a water fountain now and she loves it. As far as food she eats out of the bowl and won't eat what she knocks out of the bowl on the floor unless there is no food at all left.

there is new bowl I saw that I want to get that seems like it will keep the food in - the back is higher then the front

1 of mine will not eat off the floor- but he has a flat face so he pushes the food out

some times I am picking up a full bowl of food off the floor (it's $$$ RX food so I put it back in the bowl and he will eat it)

Mine likes to drop pieces of dry food into the water and let it soak up the water and get mushy. Then he eats it.
Guess he likes cereal! Chat Icon

my cat doesnt put his paws andin the water and lick them, but he loves water in general and licks the faucet to get it to drip and takes showers with us LOL

my wood floor has been filthy lately by his dish. I realized he was putting his wet food on the floor and then eating it. Im going to get one of those mats to go under his food.
