When did you introduce the...
Sippy Cup ?? Frankie will be 6 months soon... Do you think it is to soon? He is a BF baby and mostly refuses to drink from the bottle. I was thinking maybe just letting him drink from sippy instead. Can you put BM or Formula in there? Do you sterilize it or anything? TIA

We started about 6 months but she still doesn't know how to do it "by her self." She understands the concept but can't hold it up high enough to get anything out so we have to hold it for her if she wants to drink -- otherwise it's just a chewtoy which is fine too.
I wouldn't put bm or formula in it -- not yet -- but you can do water or water/juice. I put about 1/4 inch of juice on the bottom of the cup and then about 1/2 inch of water. i also use a spill-proof sippy cup either the gerber one or the nubby one although DH ordered one from onestepahead.com today that i showed him because the baby only has to tip it to a 45 degree angle for the water/juice to come out.

We started with a sippy cups at 4.5 mos. He loves it, but doesn't drink very well from it yet. I put water in it and he drinks some of it but mostly just drips down his chin. I just washed it really well with soap and hot water. The Nuby cup instructions say not to boil it.

We did it the same time we introduced juice (about 12 months). They were weaned from the bottle immediately after.

my doc said at 6 months they should be drinking out of the sippy cup and off teh bottle.....ok this dose not happen in myhouse at least the no bottle part lol

I find this confusing.....aren't they supposed to stay on formula/BM until 1 year old when they are weaned to real milk?
If so....
if you're not putting formula in it, then how do they get it?

they just get it with juice/water. they BARELY get anything out in my experience anyway. it's more of a chew toy for Emily, but I like to give it to her to get her used to it. If I were relying on it to give her formula she'd not be eating at all because she only gets a few sips out at most! I think it's more to develop coordination then for nutrition.
