hoping there's some vegetarian food at SB party
On veggie groups on FB i've read about other vegetarians that are left to eating potato salad and chips when at a party; this usually happens to me at a BBQ so I tend to not go to them. I'm going to a SB party tonight and i'm hoping that's not going to be the case. I would never request special food, cause it's just not about me. But i'm hoping for some non-chicken wing or bbq type foods. Anyone else go through this at parties?

...maybe it's Tofurkey?
Even if I have ONE guest that is vegetarian I make sure there are several dishes that they can eat.

Do the hosts know you are a vegetarian? If I am hosting and I know someone has a preference then I will have something separate (ziti maybe?) for them.
But if I don't know, well, then I may not plan accordingly

My friend knows; it's her fiance who's throwing the party at his place so i'm not sure it was conveyed. But in general if i'm having a party I always try to have at least one dish without meat (yes ziti or burritos are good too).

I would probably bring something that I could eat.
i can't eat dairy and a lot of times I will bring a non dairy dip or hummus or something. This way I know that I can eat something....
could you call your friend and ask what she is serving?

I baked something yummy but it's for desert.
If i'd have thought of it earlier in the week I might have asked but since it's today i'd never put them on the spot. Not sure if i'd have the guts to ask anyway

I go through it all the time.... my parents and inlaws are always accomodating but when I'm in a position where I dont want to inconvenience the host, I would usually bring something that I could eatthat can be shared with others.

Most people know I'm a veg and will have stuff I can eat, but a lot of times I will make sure I have something before I go just in case

Re: hoping there's some vegetarian food at SB party
We had friends over to watch the game and they are vegetarians. (though the DH will eat meat once in a blue moon). The DW is vegan, so she wouldn't even eat the ziti as I had ricotta and Mozz. cheese.
I made them a zucchini and potato baked dish, and I also had hummus and pita chips.
