Anyone Have An Issue with Their Cervix Measurements?
I had my Level II this week and all looked great with the babies, however they measured my cervix and said i was on the low end of what they like to see (i was at 30). They said they will monitor that every 2 weeks now....so now i get internal sonograms every 2 weeks now too. I'm just wondering (if anyone knows) what happens if i go back and the cervix goes below the threshold? Does that mean they will need to stitch my cervix together.

Re: Anyone Have An Issue with Their Cervix Measurements?
I was hospitalized for a short cervix for six weeks and then did another 3 weeks of bedrest at home. At my 20 weeks sono I measured the same, 3.0, which they said was borderline. So long story short at 27 weeks I was only measuring 2.0 so I went in the hospital. I couldn't get stitched b/c I was 27 weeks and I think they stop doing the stitch around 20 weeks or so. I will automatically have the stitch at 12-13 weeks with future pgs as per my dr. They were worried with the short cervix of preterm labor, I made it to 37 weeks with the help of strict bedrest. I know alot of people who had this also and every situation is different. If you have any questions at all feel free to ask. Good luck!

I have a cervix check every two weeks also. I believe it's common practice with twins. My doctor said that the cervix is very dynamic - like a rubberband. If you rest and keep pressure off of it as much as possible, it can lengthen. with the weight of the babies on it and moving around too much, it tends to shorten.

Very true! My doctor would joke with me and tell me if I wanted to get out of bed to stand on my head!

Thanks ladies for your replies. You have made me feel a lot better. I actually don't do to much now activity wise and mainly sit or sleep. Hopefully that helps!

My cousin was under 1 cm at 26 weeks, she delivered at 35 weeks. Be careful and bedrest as much as you can. She had a cerclage but her cervix still kept shortening.
How many weeks are you?
