Scrapbooking Periodicals
Hi! I recently lost a very dear friend. He was killed by enemy action at war. I decided to do a scrapbook for one of his brothers with whom I'm very close to. Since I started this hobby not long ago and still learning how to do different things, I bought a 12x12 scrapbook that already has some of the layouts but I have no idea how to set up the newspaper articles and some of the news articles I have found online and posts from his friend from all over the world of how much they missed him and the great things they said about him. I know that if I put all of this together, it will be very comforting for his brother to see how much his brother was respected and loved. I want to make it something that portrays the true hero he was. I searched online but can't find anything and I hope you can help me or give me some ideas. If you can post any pics of anything that you have come across, it'd be very helpful. Very Much appreciated ! Thank You!

Re: Scrapbooking Periodicals
I know there are a lot of posts to wade through but try the chat boards on scrapbook.com. I like Creating Keepsakes magazine but what I am doing is really a lot different from a military scrapbook. If you are not already doing it, you should probably be using a spray to protect the newspaper articles so that the pages don't deterioriate over time. When I get stuck durinng scorabooking, I remind myself that the key is to preserve the memories, so if not every page is very artistic that is fine. I look back later and find that I have created pages that are aesthetically pleasing anyway.

Re: Scrapbooking Periodicals
First, I'm very sorry about your friend.
Try the idea gallery at Scrapbooks Etc.. Use the search feature (try "military" or "newspaper"), or just click around the categories and look at what other people have done. I'm sure you'll get some good ideas.
And I agree, definitely get an archival spray (Michaels or any craft store should carry them) to use on any newspaper articles or computer printouts you're using. It'll make them acid-free, so they won't turn yellow and deteriorate.

Re: Scrapbooking Periodicals
Thanks so much. I will check those sites. And I'm going to get that spray. I didn't know about it and it's such a good idea. Once again, thanks. If anyone else has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them.
