I'm sorry for your loss, but at least you have answers.
I just had a lap done in November for a complex ovarian cyst. It turned out to be an endometrial cyst and they discovered a small amount of endometriosis. It seems unusual that you would have surgery (even if it is minimally invasive) if you don't have any issues. The surgery itself was not bad but I was in a lot of pain afterwards and it took me a good two weeks to recover.
Talk to your Dr. and find out why he wants to do the lap. I hope your next IUI works and you won't need to worry about next steps
