I'm following Hal's too, but I had to change it up a bit since I love this class at my gym:

Monday: run & 1 hour strength training class

Tuesday: elliptical

Wednesday: run

Thursday: 1 hour strength training class

Friday: long run

Saturday: 1 hour strength training class

Sunday: rest

I just started week 2

Re: 1/2 MARATHON IN MAY SCHEDULES

I do my long run on either Saturday or Sunday.

During the week I do 2 shorter runs... about 4-5 miles each.

I also do 1 or 2 days of cardio cross training, on elliptical, bike, etc.... I increase the resistance to make it intense.

I do strength work on my arms, back, abs, and legs 2-3 times a week. And a lot of stretching after every workout.

I hope all this will be good enough in the end!

I think I am going to try to run every other day to keep myself into it
I feel that if I let too much time go by, I start back from 0
I will do shorter runs on the weekdays and then longer on the weekends
On the days I don't run, I am going to do another form of cardio and strength train

I came on here to basically ask the same question..this will be my first 1/2 marathon...I have run 5ks and 10ks ..but never 1/2 marathons..

Exactly one month until the half!!!

How's everyone doing? I did my longest run this morning, 9 miles. It felt pretty good, but I could feel my legs tightening up towards the end. I also tried these Jelly Belly Sports Beans and I feel like they definitely gave me a boost at the one hour mark. I have the fruit punch flavor and they taste like regular jelly beans. They were really easy to eat while running too. Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather! I can't stand doing long runs on the treadmill lol

Re: 1/2 MARATHON IN MAY SCHEDULES

I'm feeling really good about my training. I'm really hoping that I can achieve my goal!

I started using the sports beans last fall for a marathon and they are great. I HATE gells (I need so much water to wash it down, if they don't make me gag first). Last year at the HM I had life savers, but all but one fell out of my pocket at the starting line Chat Icon I cramped up at mile 9.5 and missed my goal by 1:30 Chat Icon

Re: 1/2 MARATHON IN MAY SCHEDULES

so far my training has been going great. Last weekend I missed the 10 mile run on Saturday with my group b/c I didn't feel good but got up on Sunday and did the 10 miles alone at the Massapequa preserve. I felt great a bit tired but good! I can't believe we are almost there!
