Unplugged Days

One of my friends from another message board has decided to make Sundays tech free. They play games, read, craft, maybe watch a movie together.

Does anyone think of doing something like that?

I find that I am so used to "noise" that I am craving quiet now. I am going to try this one evening a week and see how it goes.

I could do it, but DH would probably die.

DH & I would die. We love watching movies on our days off.

Re: Unplugged Days

If I'm home alone, I'd rather have the radio on than the tv.
On the weekends, I like to start the day with a cup of coffee and the NY Times, when I have the time.
I rarely go on the computer on the weekends, I sit in front of one at work during the week.

I rather enjoy reading, DH makes fun of me when I do, but I get 'lost' in my books and can actually relax.

Re: Unplugged Days

I like to do that during dinner and such. I wonder if DH would do it too with me for a day off?

Re: Unplugged Days

Honestly curious, how does watching a movie fall into the tech-free or unplugged days category? (I think I am misunderstanding this.)

I'm not sure we really need a tech-free day, but we're not huge into video games, computer games, etc. We have our TV shows that we watch on a regular basis, but that's about it. Most of our free time is spent outdoors, year round, with our horses. We're usually gone most of the day on Saturdays and Sundays, no matter the weather. When we're home on the weekends after that, DH is usually studying for school and I'm taking care of the house, laundry, etc.

The point for my friend was to have family time together so if they all watch the movie it's not like everyone is isolated at their seperate computers, blackberries, video games, etc.

I am the one that wants quiet - I just took her family day a step further.
