Re: can anyone describe cluster feeding???
Each child is different as to when it stops. My daughter cluster fed for more than 6 months. I would nurse her for 30 minutes, then 30 minutes later there she is again wanting more. this would go on for 6 hours straight for a long time!! It came and went in wave, but ultimetly let up ater 6 months. It is a cause from growth spurts and some kids just need more. Good luck, it will let up eventually. It'r great she is eating!

Yup, that's cluster feeding and it's completely normal. It usually lasts a few days. I think it lasted around 3 or 4 days. Then it goes back to normal ... until the next growth spurt.
Hang in there! You're doing great!!!

Re: can anyone describe cluster feeding???
For the first couple of weeks, especially when Christopher hit his growth spurt, I cried all the time. As soon as I would finish feeding him, I would start looking at the clock, dreading the next time I would have to feed him again. It was sooooo hard!

Re: can anyone describe cluster feeding???
Luke is 4 months and I feel like I'm cluster feeding him every night before bed... and its not just a growth spurt. Its like he needs to tank up for the night.
I ended up pumping a lot more so I could give him more at one feeding and then he would last longer between feedings... This also worked well when he was a month old ...but by longer at one month i mean 2 hours instead of every 30 min to an hour.
It was really rough in the beginning. It would feel like I was constantly feeding him. Which I was... if you are feeding him every hour and each feeding lasts 20-30 minutes then u barely have time to do anyhing inbetween.
