let's talk about Beaches in Turks and Caicos

I see from some old threads that several LIFers have gone or have heard about it. I have been searching online for vacation ideas and I feel like I just stumbled on an amazing gem! I was originally reluctant to take DS out of the US but I'm changing my stance on that.

So, tell me all about this place. If you were a family with a 2 or 3 year old, what type of room would you take at Beaches? Would you risk booking during hurricane season? Are there always price specials and sales? I see a good sale for booking before January 31st.

DH and I usually book our trips through a travel agent. Is this necessary for Beaches? Oh, and is there golf anywhere nearby?

Sorry, I don't know anything about Beaches in Turks and Caicos. I do know that Beaches and Sandals are the same company, and Sandals ALWAYS advertises 65% off.

I think there are always sales. When I first looked into it, they had golf listed as a land excursion. I think it was less than an hour away.

I am pretty sure this is where my friends went in Nov with their 5 year old daughter. They all had a great time and couldn't think of one bad thing about the vacation.

Re: let's talk about Beaches in Turks and Caicos

We are planning a 2011 vacation there with a 3.5 and a 1 year old. I can't wait! I just signed up for their email promotions so we;ll see what kind of offers come through.

Form what I have read there is no advantage to using a travel agent.

Chelle went and can give you some good advice.

I'd love to get a room where the kiddies have heir own space, but we'll see what the budget allows at the time of booking.

Amazing!! I can not say enough about it. The resort is beautiful and there is so much to do for the kids. We went with our 3 and 2 year old this last Nov and they loved it. The beaches, the food, the shows, we are going back in Nov 2010. The Italian village and the water parks are perfect for little kids.

The kids club was great too, we didnt really use it because we chose to spend the time with our kids but I wouldnt hesitate leaving my kids there. Also we did have a babysitter come into our room one night so we could go to dinner and that worked out good.

We got a govenors suite, with a seperate living area.. totally worth it. It was definitely an $$ trip but sooo worth it.

We went the first week of Nov and the weather was beautiful. I personally would not travel during peak hurrican season since we were booked to travel in Sept 08 to Turks and the hurricane hit. We were sooo disappointed, we chose to get rerouted to Beaches Negril and it didnteven come close to comparing. I get travel insurance every time I travel regardless.

So much for my fear that the sale would end--prices just went down a little bit from last week! I think I am going to book as soon as we are sure we all have our passports in order.

Re: let's talk about Beaches in Turks and Caicos

we actually just got back yesterday from 6 days there. it was brilliant. we stayed in the French Village which was very nice. we travelled with our 2.5 year old DD and stayed in a groundfloor walkout room with 2 double beds (she was in a crib) - there were no kings left when we booked. the room was ok...not the best room we ever stayed in but the patio was handy for when naptime or in the evenings and we weren't ready to sleep yet and she was in bed (the other floors don't have balconies in the french village) i think with 2 kids it might be a bit tight but we couldn't justify the extra $ for a suite. all 3 villages are lovely and easy to get to from one to the other - the french is definitely the quietest and furthest away from the beach but that suited us and the walk was nice. the italian village is the newest and the pool there is definitely the busiest (because it's heated) but hardest to get a seat beside. all the restaurants were really great and not all buffets like you'd usually get at an all inclusive place. our DD had a great time....the sesame shows every night and the parade was brilliant. kids everywhere! we used the camp 2 of the days and she was crying to go back (bored with us and wanting company with people her own size!) we also used the babysitting service 2 nights and it was great to get out on our own. i had no problem using them...was not nervous at all leaving her with them.
overall it was a brilliant trip and we'll definitely be going back in the next few years. i'd probably stay in the french village again or if i have the $$ the the newer italian section.
enjoy!! i wish we were still there...landed in JFK yesterday in flip flops and 20degrees...depressing!!!

Thanks...........I'm not sure but I really think we will end up in the main building (Carribbean section, I guess it is). With 1 kid, some of those other rooms are just hard to justify and I do not think I would like the distance from the French Village to the beach. I just know how I am. Are there all balconies in the main building? Are there jacuzzis around the property?

i believe the rooms in the main building do have balconies....it's pretty centrally located there...and near the sesame camp and playground which is good. there are huge hottubs attached to all the pools i believe....wherever you stay it'll be a great time and although it looks pretty huge online it's not that far to anywhere. enjoy!

Well, now my husband did some reading and he is more interested in the French Village, whereas I think I still prefer Caribbean. It does not sound like we can go wrong either way. Chat Icon

last tip i'll give you is that if you do end up in the French Village request one of the buildings along the side of the pool...we ended up right down the back near reception which kinda bugged me plus we got zero sunlight in our room...the buildings along the side of the pool get the sunlight during the day and it's not as far a walk to the rest of the resort. HTH! oh and bring bug spray...lots of bugs in the evening.

Re: let's talk about Beaches in Turks and Caicos

one word - AMAZING!!!!!!

You can see some pics of it in my album.

We went when DD was just turning 8 months and although I wish I had waited until she was a little bit older so she could appreciate the characters a little more, she still had a GREAT time.

I can not say enough great things about this resort. We're really hoping to head back there when the girls are a bit older.

We went at the end of January and it was GORGEOUS.

The staff is amazing. The food was great IMO. Lots of options. I heard the kids clubs and babysitting are fantastic, even though we never use them.

We stayed in the 1st concierge oom level and I wouldn't have done it any other way...well next time we'll have to upgrade our room.

You will not regret anything by going there!

Re: let's talk about Beaches in Turks and Caicos

We went there May 08 and May 09 and are planning on going back again this year (maybe the last one). DS was a huge fan of Elmo, so he loved the shows, character breakfasts, parades, etc. We used the kids club for his nap on the first year and for him to stay there from 12 to 3 pm.

Last year we stayed on the italian village and the room was great (much better that the one on the caribbean village 2 years ago). We just love the place! The service, the restaurants (you have lost of options), the shows, etc. We booked this year trip back in january because of the 65% off, but I can see they are still using that promotion.
