best "cheaper" brownie mix
I don't often make box cakes, but I need to make a whole lot of brownies with minimal trouble and minimal spending. I know how awesome the Ghirardelli brownies are, but since I need to buy a bunch, I'd rather get one that I can find on sale. Any opinions on the better cheap brownie mixes (ie., Duncan Hines, Betty Crocker). TIA!

Buy the Betty Crocker or Pillsbury kind on sale and throw a bag of Nestle milk chocolate chips in and they are great.
They also have a big box of Hershey's triple chunk brownie mix at BJ's that is good.

even I have to agree with this one
I am pretty sure though, that costco has the big box of Ghiradelli. I would probably go that route.

Me too. The one with walnuts is yummy.

Re: best "cheaper" brownie mix
I just made 3 boxes of betty crocker choc fudge (in the red box) that I bought at shop rite for $.99 for a party. They came out awesome and everyone raved about them. I followed the recipe on the box but right before I put the pan in the oven I sprinkled choc. chips on top. They came out so moist, fudgey and chocolately.

Someone else mentioned adding chocolate chips. This sounds perfect. Thanks!
