Seaford
Can you tell me what you know about Seaford? Specifically how is the school district?

SD is good... area generally is good -- there are some "eh" parts (IMO), but as a whole, its a great town

Re: Seaford
I grew up in Seaford, the school district is very, very good - hence the high taxes
I would have loved to stay there but we just could not afford it.
There are 2 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Typically if you live south of Sunrise Hwy, you'll be at the Harbor Elem School, and if you're north, you'll be at the Manor Elem School (although that's not always the case, some students just south of Sunrise go to the Manor).
I think the entire town is good, there are some areas right on the water (on the canals) that aren't the best in terms of the condition of the houses and surrounding property, but pretty much everywhere else is really nice.
Although Merrick Rd runs through the center of town, it's really not considered a main street kind of area(not like in Northport or Huntington or Merrick).
I lived there for almost 20 years (moved out in 2004, back from 2008-2009), let me know if I can help at all!

Re: Seaford
We bought in seaford when I was married because the sd was great, the neighborhood was small and they didnt have a million schools... Heard nothing but good things and loved living there. I lived in the manor section north of sunrise...

Yeah my parents live on a canal in the harbor area and I think it's the strangest thing that you have big, beautiful, well-kept houses next to run down little bungalows. I personally wouldnt like that and I know my parents have had a lot of frustration with some of their neighbors and the condition of their houses/yards. Other than that they're happy with the town (aside from the taxes).

It really is the weirdest thing, and it's been like that for as long as I can remember. The land there must be worth a fortune, but the fishing shacks don't really add value

Re: Seaford
I've lived in Seaford since 1983. My parents live in the Manor area and DH and I bought our home in 2003 south of Merrick near the Harbor School.
We are very happy here, however our taxes are high. We live near Cedar Creek park, so it's great to bring DD there. I can look out my window and see the kids sleigh riding in the winter.
North of Jerusalem Avenue is zoned for Levittown schools. The Manor area is Sunrise Highway area and the Harbor is south of Merrick Road.
After living in 2 parts of Seaford, I do prefer the Manor area better. JMO
