Wood Floors
I am looking for a recommendation to have my wood floors re-finished. We are buying a house and want to have all the floors re-finished so they match before we move in. Please recommend if you used someone and loved them.
Thanks!

Re: Wood Floors
We used Harris floors twice - once at our old home before moving in and now here before we moved in - both times we were pleased.

We had a HORRENDOUS experience with them and from what I've seen on these boards they get very mixed reviews (i.e you either love them or hate them).

Ditto horrendous experience with Harris Floors. They subcontract out their work so you never know who you're going to get. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

I have heard that people had those issues on here - I always ask when I get an estimate (from anyone) who will be doing the work and I always get it in writing that they won't contract it out - so maybe that was the difference. I do know several people who used them and liked them too so I guess it is a toss up. The people I know who used them were not contracted out either. They also did my parents home 2 different times (1st floor and 2nd floor w/out issues) and did a great job.
Our job this time was more complicated b/c some of the wood in the living room didn't match but they stained it and it all matches perfectly now.
If you get an estimate from anyone just make them put in that they won't contract out the job.

Thanks...I would have never thought to make sure they don't contract it out, as this is all new to me!
