Re: Easy meatballs?

I am also vegetarian and I make meatballs all the time and they always get complimented!!

one pound of chop meat (add or subtract how much you need)
one egg - per pound
italian bread crumbs
garlic powder
onion ( I dice it really fine in the food processor so you don't bite into chunks)
add a little bit of sauce

Mix all the ingredients and make into golf size balls - or as large as you want.
Brown them in a frying pan (set on low so they don't burn)--you can use pam--on all sides
Then add them to a big pot of sauce and simmer until meatballs are cooked all the way through.

That's easy! Thank you! It's hard when you don't taste what you are making. Chat Icon

I know what you mean, and that is what drives me nuts about being vegetarian and DH being a major meat eater! I have never tried the meatballs I have made but they are requested every year for Christmas eve.
Good Luck!

Re: Easy meatballs?

I'm not Italian, but I've used a trick to use ground up croutons instead of bread crumbs. I leave out eggs, use a little bit of sauce and/or milk to get them to stick, parm cheese, garlic and onions too. I don't always use all of this, but definitely the croutons.

No cheese in your meatballs? I'm disappointed. Don't ever have me over for meatballs!!

Re: Easy meatballs?

where do you live? Chat Icon last night, I was in a pinch to make meatballs...

I stopped at Iavaronne in Wantagh to pick up some chopped meat, they only had beef, no veal or pork...

sitting next to the chopped meat I see an already made meatloaf, not cooked. LIGHTBULB, same ingrediants that I would use to make meatballs went into the uncooked meatloaf. For $5.99, I got a 1.7lb meatloaf that I broke up for meatballs. I made two batches and froze one. So easy and so much cheaper than buying all the ingrediants seperately!!
