Spinoff to Home Insurance

I just did a search on home insurance quotes and nothing came up. We just got quoted for $1000 a year for our 3 bedroom one-level ranch (with a finished basement). We are closing this upcoming week so we are just going to pay it and look more into it later. We are using the same company and person that we've been using for our cars and our apartment. We are going to be getting an adjustment on our car insurance due to the house insurance quote.

Does this quote sound reasonable to you? Thank you!

we pay a little more than 330 a year for a 2 bedroom townhome in NJ - so to me a 1000 seems like a lot but I also know that a few insurers are getting out of NY or are reducing policies and increasing premiums.

We pay $1100 a year for a 2 bedroom ranch (used to be 3 bedrooms) with a finished basment and a jewelry rider.

We pay $540 a year through Met Life- 3 br split level. But there are SO many factors- our initial estimate went down because it turned out that there was a fire hydrant very close by and the fire house was closer than I thought.

My quotes ranged from $540 to $900. I am also in Putnam county, don't know how much difference that makes.
