abnormal liver enzymes???
Does anyone have any experience with this. OUr dog Milo had a seizure today and when they ran his blood work they said his liver enzymes came back elevated. We are bringing him in tomorrow to conduct a liver enzyme test. When we initially brought him to the vet they discussed many options on why he would have a seizure and one was that his liver may not be functioning they way it should be. They discussed having something to do with the "shunt" in his liver. Does anyone have any information they can share?????????
TIA

Re: abnormal liver enzymes???
What kind of dog do you have?
I have a yorkie. From what I understand this is more comming in the smaller breeds. He cannot process protein so he cannot eat regular dog food, he can't chew on dog bones or eat basically anything with protein in it. I buy special dog food through the vet. Luckily we caught it when he was a puppy so we have not had to deal with seizures but that can happen.

Re: abnormal liver enzymes???
Thank you for responding.
We have a long hair chihuahua. He has a liver shunt where he has problems processing proteins---just like you said. They put him on a special diet--Hills Liver Diet food and told us he can no longer have regular food and treats. We are hoping with this diet he will not have any more seizures.
What else besides the diet food from the vet do you feed your dog--for treats?
