What is in a great antipasta?
I was thinking of attempting a homemade one for NYE but I need it to be impressive b/c my MIL will be there. Anybody care to share their recipe? Or in the alternative, where do you order yours from in or around the Babylon area?

Lettuce on bottom of plate, then provolone slices cut in half, rolled up prosciutto, rolled up genoa salami, green olives, black olives, artichoke hearts, anchovies
There is an A&S Pork Store on Deer Park Ave in North Babylon. They have good Italian food.

What about Gemelli's? I agree, no need to really make anything, just assemble a bunch of delicious treats on a nice platter. Cheeses, meats, olives, artichokes, roasted peppers, etc. yum!

My boss was just saying he loves their food. I'll have to check it out. As far as Gemeli's, I love the restaurant but I have catered from them a couple of times and I'm not impressed with the food, especially considering what I am paying. Thanks for the help ladies!
Also, I know I need pepperocinis but are there other types of peppers I need? Also, are there are any special types of olives beyond the basics?

We use pitted black olives and those green olives stuffed with pimentos.
I forgot to add roasted peppers.

Re: What is in a great antipasta?
These are my personal favorites:
Cheeses: Sharp provolone Fresh mozzarella
Meats: Prosciutto Genoa Salami Capicola Soppressata
Other stuff: Marinated artichoke hearts Roasted red peppers
On a bed of lettuce….I usually like to have some tomato also….
Things I don’t like but that you probably need: Olives of multiple types Pepperoncini

i pretty much do the same as above...you can also go to Joes italian market on little east neck road in west babylon...i just walk down the deli counter and order up whatever I am in the mood for to make the platter....get some crusty bread from there too and the breadsticks and your golden!

Ahhh ok, yes, I've only been to the restaurant which I love. Too bad to hear the catering wasn't good. I would also agree about A&S or just further down DPA is Salpino's. Very good stuff!!
