Re: X-post to pregnancy- Help me convince DH
Im an animal lover and we love our puppy BUT if DH and I had not agreed together to get a dog I never would have. Both people need to help out & be responsible with the pup. If one person is not on board they resent the dog and it becomes a source of arguments. It is a big commitment. DH needs to come to a compromise with you when it comes to making a big decision. He can't just walk in with the dog!!! Aside from time, dogs can become costly. We spent around $300 in vaccinations, stool testing bla bla bla, then dogs supplies $200, then neutering will be $250. Of course that extra $$ is needed for a baby.
Also he still needs to do a lot of research!!! My DH and I googled "best dogs for children" and the same dogs that re-appeared on lists we wrote down. Since we needed a small dog we chose a toy poodle but there are many dogs suggested for children. I would not let my baby near the dog that you DH wants.
Your not a puppy killer. You didn't abandon the dog at the shelter!!
FINAL ADVICE- Tell DH that you want to wait till the babies born. When DC arrives he'll see that it's too much to have a dog & a baby at once.
