German Shepherds & hips...
Hi, I have a 4 y/o GS - bought her from what I believed to be a reputable breeder...well, she started last month w/ stiffness in her back legs which has become progressively worse. I give her glucosamine every day, but it does not seem to be working. Anybody have an recs? I am going to probably have to bring her to the vet soon, but I am just hoping this is something that can be treated w/ medication and/or vitamins. She is in great health - not overweight...I am so sick watching her struggle to get around.
Thanks.

Re: German Shepherds & hips...
I think that hip dysplasia is quite common in shepherds. Were the parents' hips OFA certified? Even if they weren't it is probably in their genes somewhere. Sounds like an x-ray is needed. Good luck.
