thank you so much, everyone. i feel so moved to have gotten so much support and i feel a little better having gotten my feelings off my chest.

i am waiting for this to get easier...

i keep going to petfinder.com and looking for a dog just like sophie... which is completely irrational - i know that getting another dog that looks like her won't fill the void. plus, i can't really even think about another dog until i know that my surviving dog is okay... right now he's pretty stressed out over the loss.

anyway, i can't thank you all enough for listening to me.

Im so sorry for your loss...take comfort in knowing you gave her 6 wonderful years of life being loved & cared for after being rescued!

just wanted to thank all of you again for ALL the support and caring words.

last week i picked up sophie's ashes. they also gave me a beautiful sampling of her fur and an imprint of her paw.

on a day to day basis it's getting a little easier, but i still find myself crying at least once a day.

i get comfort from being with our other dog, who actually seems to be coming into his own now that sophie is gone. i guess she was very "alpha" but in an anxious way, so she made him anxious. now he seems much more... free. so we're having a lot of fun with him.

i've been thinking of getting another dog, but i know that we're not really ready. plus, we've got two babies so we wouldn't be able to give the dog the time it needs to adjust into our family...

anyway, thank you all so much again for listening...

here are some pics of my baby. the second is from one day that i was very sick and she didn't leave my side until i was better.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
