Filet Mignon
I was thinking about making filet mignon for Christmas. There will bea bout 15 adults. Any thoughts? BTW I never made this before :) so any recommendations, pointers would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not a really big filet fan (I prefer porter or rib) - so I don't really have any sugguestions on how to cook it BUT..I am fairly certain it's on sale at Stop and Shop this week! I think 3.99/lb.

I was just watching a show last night about cooking this.
A chef in NYC was doing a 5 minute cooking 'show' on a news show. He put the filet mignon in very hot oil and seared each side for 2 minutes. Removed all of the oil. Then added portobello mushrooms to it, and PORT wine (they said it must be port bc it is sweeter). Let it simmer for 5 minutes for medium filet mignon. Do 3 minutes for medium rare.
Then took the meat out, put on plate, put mushrooms on top, and that's it.
I don't eat mushrooms, but the recipe seemed very simple and fast.
