Hominy?

Has anypone ever used it before? I have a recipe that calls for it but I cannot find it at the supermarket. Do you think I can subbstitute polenta for it?

Re: Hominy?

what is the recipe for?

i've never cooked with it before - but from what i understand about it... polenta wouldn't work - they are VERY different.

did you look with the canned foods and/or in the latin aisle?

Re: Hominy?

Hominy is boiled puffed corn kernals. I dont think polenta or grits would work.

You can usually find it in the supermarket, in the canned veggie aisle, on the top row. I know Aunt Sylvias puts one out

Thanks all! I will look for it in the canned food aisle. If I can't find it I guess my chicken tortilla soup will survive anyway.

Thanks!!!
