Pets and christmas trees.....
ok- so I got a tree for the first time since I lived at home
I figured Maggie (my kitten) would knock it over
BUT that doesn't seem to be the issue
they are BOTH eating it
and someone puked up a bunch of pine neddles this morning on the rug
how bad is the tree for them? and what can I do to make them stop eating it!!!!!!!!

Re: Pets and christmas trees.....
I think they sell a spray in Petco that makes it taste bad to them- but that is non toxic (Like a bitter apple spray) Maybe try spraying around the branches with that??

My cat used to chew wires. Made me a nervous wreck she was going to electrocute herself. This stuff worked well!

Re: Pets and christmas trees.....
Definitely try bitter apple. We also put up a baby gate around the tree one year - but if memory serves, you have cats, right? So that may not work for you.

Re: Pets and christmas trees.....
last year miller tried eating the tree a couple of times... i kept a spray bottle around (with water in it) and sprayed him whenever he started chewing it.... he learned REAL quick & never did it again lol

Re: Pets and christmas trees.....
A few years ago my SIL's cat ate some needles and he had to have surgery. So the next year, they bought a fake tree... well, he gnawed on that tree too.
Now, they just don't get a tree.
