wrapped gifts on airplane????
MIL and FIL are going to London to visit BIL and SIL next week. I want them to bring their Christmas gifts. Can I wrap the presents and have MIL/FIL bring them as carry on? would it make a difference if the bags were checked?

If you are carrying them on they can not be wrapped. They will make you un wrap them

Re: wrapped gifts on airplane????
yep, when I travelled last year they made an announcement, anything wrapped would be unwrapped at security!

Even if you wrap them and put them in a suitcase, if they are too dense the TSA officers will open them. I would ship them if the packages are large, or put them all in a suitcase and pay the extra fee (if the airline charges one). You can pack gift bags and tissue paper and your MIL can wrap them when she gets there.

Re: wrapped gifts on airplane????
DH has family in Italy, so now we're pro's at this. I pre-cut the wrapping paper into the correct size so I don't need to bring a scissor with me, fold the paper up neatly, put it inside a shirt box (or whatever) and pack a roll of scotch tape. Once on board, you can pack it on the plane.
Or, just use a gift bag with tissue paper. That's not hard to unwrap if security wants to inspect it.

Re: wrapped gifts on airplane????
My Mom just came out from Ireland & brought out wrapped gifts. She packed them in her luggage. She had no problems.
