ER soon...updated
Any words of ADVICE?
Also, I feel like I'm coming down with something (sore throat, slightly watery nose, really thirsty). Anyone have a COLD at the time of retrieval (I know... my luck!)?
I know it's not flu or H1N1 (immunized to both 2 weeks ago).
I feel like maybe taking tylenol and not saying anything (for fear of the cycle being cancelled after spending all that $$ and time).
Update...... DONE! It was as pleasant an experience as I could imagine! It was quiet, peaceful & they got 18 eggs!!!! (Thank goodness! I was praying for the 12 they saw earlier!).
My cold was no problem for them.
The problem was afterward. It HURT afterward. I know one of my ovaries was a little "off" position... but it HURT to cough.
But.. all is better now! The waiting begins.

Re: ER soon.
Good luck! I had my ER last week. There was nothing I did or could do to prepare for it, except no food or drink after midnight the night before.
Before the procedure, the nurses take your temp, blood pressure and insert the IV. It was weird to look down at my arm and see an IV in there! The IV hurt only when I bent my arm.
I remember walking into the surgery room, and the nurses were very warm and kind. They helped me remove my gown and helped me up to the operating table. There were velcro straps that my legs were tied to on the stirrups (I guess to prevent involuntary leg movement during the procedure). The anesthesiologist and RE introduced themselves (even though I had met the RE before). Three different people checked my ID bracelet. The next thing I remember was being in the recovery room and the nurse bringing crackers, water, juice and some tylenol. I was in the recovery room for about 30-40 minutes before I was allowed to get dressed. The nurse told me to use the bathroom before I left. I guess they want to ensure that you don't have pain urinating. I did have to pee every 3-4 hours after the ER (all day!). It hurt to pee, but not overly painful. I felt 100% normal 24 hours later.
Good luck!

Re: ER soon.
I had a head cold while I stimmed and for the ER. It was no biggie. I had asked the RE as soon as I knew I was getting sick and he siad unless it was like a bad bronchitis or something it would be fine. Good Luck!!

Re: ER soon.
Good luck! I just had my ER on Monday and it wasnt as bad as I thought.... 20 minute nap and you are done. I did not bend my arm AT ALL because I was afraid it may hurt (the IV freaked me out! ... After the procedure though I would go home and rest for 2 days... Im still a little crampy and I saw the doctor and he said I really shouldnt have went into work the next day....
Also I was constipated and needed to take laxatives (sorry TMI!) but it did make me feel a lot better especially because the pressure was taken off my belly .....so monitor yourself and ask the nurses what you can take and what you cant...
Good luck!!! The procedure itself was not bad AT ALL!!!
