Questions about travel between London, Amsterdam, Glasgow
Going on a 10 day business trip with DH to London in January. Is there an easy way to get to Amsterdam from London? We are planning on flying, but wondering if train is easier. Also...what about from Amsterdam to Glasgow? How far apart are they?

Re: Questions about travel between London, Amsterdam, Glasgow
Well, London to Glasgow is about a 5 hour journey by train, its not cheap, it could cost about £150 round trip, but you could fly there in about and hour and a half (give or take) and it might cost under £100, but think about the time to get to a London airport, the cost involved and the cost to get back into central Glasgow (my favorite city!!) from the airport etc...while the train would take you from the centre of London, right into the heart of Glasgow.
Dunno about going to Amsterdam on the train, but again, flying on a budget airline (EasyJet or Ryanair) would be cheap and easy.

Re: Questions about travel between London, Amsterdam, Glasgow
Flying is easier and probably cheaper from London to Amsterdam. That is all I have ever done. If you want to take a train you can always take the Chunnel to Brussels and then take a train to Amsterdam. It would take about 6-7 hours depending on which train you got after the Euro star.
I have never been to Glasgow, so I'm no help with that.

Re: Questions about travel between London, Amsterdam, Glasgow
I flew from Amsterdam to London via British Airways through Heathrow.
It was far cheaper (like $800 cheaper) than the train.
Have fun. Amsterdam was AWESOME!!

Re: Questions about travel between London, Amsterdam, Glasgow
I took the Chunnel to Amsterdam. It took a few hours and we had a layover in Brussels but it was a comfortable way to travel.
As far as Glasgow, I have been there too, my father was brave and rented a car and we drove! It wasnt too hard to get there but he did have a manual car and drove on the other side of the road, a bit scary at times but we really got to see the country side and stopped off at different castles and stuff!

Re: Questions about travel between London, Amsterdam, Glasgow
we traveled from London to Amsterdam last march. We booked directly through BMI (British Midland) and the flight was only $98 a person! The flight was only 40 minutes long and left from Heathrow, it was great!

I would fly. While trains are fast, they take hours vs flights
