Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
Do you Mommies clean while Baby is napping or awake? I just can't seem to find my groove. When I worked full time, the decision was easy...clean on my day off. But now DD has changed everything and I feel guilty if I'm cleaning instead of playing with her. Any suggestions? What works for you? TIA.

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
I'll clean while he's watching Baby Einstein or napping. Sometimes I'll put him in his playpen or exercauser and bring him near the room I'm cleaning and I'll talk to him and describe what I'm doing.
You've got to get things done around the house or even just take a few minutes to sit down and have lunch and take a few minutes for yourself.
Don't feel like you have to eintertain your baby every second of the day. Its good for them to have some alone time so they can learn how to entertain themselves or just chill out.
Your doing a great job!

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
There is a third possibility besides cleaning while Baby is napping or awake... Don't clean at all!
I catch up on weekends when hubby is playing with her, but sounds like my standards are well below yours.

MY cleaning standards are pretty low, but I thought I was in the minority w/ that. There are just too many things I'd rather do. I think I will start asking DH to take her out for a few hours to cram clean.

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
I have a housekeeper and I am a full time SAHM. Its pathetic. I clean the house and 10 minutes later I need to do it again. I have a girl come 2x a month to do a major cleaning and I clean up what I can when I can during the other days. I hate cleaning with a passion and I would rather spend the time with my kids. My house suffers

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
I try to clean when Julia is sleeping but if I make to much noise she will just wake up, so I usually do it when she is awake and playing with her toys, and I'm able to get some cleaning done. I'm a neat freak, so its very hard not to be able to clean the way I want to. I have to clean late at night sometimes to. I have my house keeper come once a month to, so that helps.

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
Thanks everyone! I'm really glad I posted this because I just assumed that everyone was more put-together than me and honestly, it's a relief to know that I'm not alone. I hate cleaning and I just figured everyone had a better system than me and a cleaner house. I won't feel so guilty or pressured anymore.

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
I am obsessed with a clean house and it is hard because I work FT and feel like all my free time is spent cleaning. I just can't deal with clutter. I always think of my mom who was a SAHM. She had an immaculate home, a home-cooked meal on the table every night and happy kids. I have no clue how she did it before we were both in school.

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
My house is still messy and I pretty much clean ALL the time! I spend any free second cleaning when Im home its pathetic- I wish we could afford a housekeeper- but then I feel like I would be cleaning fo the house keeper to come- I know many of them want everything off the floor I feel like saying thats my problem more than anything else thats why Im hiring you- H-ellooo

I never did, nor do I now.....understand HOW people with kids have these immaculate homes that ALMOST show no signs of kids around.

Re: Suzie Homemaker I'm not.
My mom kept an immaculate house with all 3 of us and I plan to do the same! I cannot take a messy - unorganized house, clutter, mess, etc...
DD rarely naps or sleeps much so I wear her in the sling to clean, cook, etc or mom or DH will keep her occupied for a bit and they will even help me out around the house too.

This was my mom too and we loved and appreciated every bit of it and plan to give our daughter the same life we had

I remember friends houses that were like that -- there were very strict rules about where we were allowed to play (only the basement or their bedrooms).
I'll let my daughter roam free. I don't need a museum room. That seems like more fun to me!
