So Far...

I have gotten a sono each time I went to the Dr. Does that stop, eventually? Will I not be getting a sono every 4 weeks?

Re: So Far...

Unless you are being monitored for a problem or something, you will probably stop getting sonos at each monthly appointment from hereon out..

Due to my M/C history, they were checking me every 2-3 weeks at first. So I had internal sonos at 6 wks and 9 wks, and then my Ultrascreen at 12 weeks. But now at my regular appointments, they told me they will only check for the heartbeat with the doppler, no more sonos Chat Icon

My next sono will be the LEVEL II in less than a month Chat Icon

So far, I have had a mini-sono at my regular monthly appointments (only 2 so far) where I got to see the bean for a minute and hear the hearbeat...but no picture.

I also go for my level II at the end of May Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks! I had 3 internal sonos then a regular one. So, I probably won't get one now until 20 weeks.

Good luck on your level II. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: So Far...

Stephanie, I see you are about 11 weeks along. Are you going for the Ultrascreen (also called NT Screening)? They usually do this around 12-13 weeks.

It's optional, but its a screening test where they do a more detailed scan of the baby, check the folds behind the baby's neck, along with a finger prick bloodtest. It's usually done at your hospital or if your doctor's office has good equipment. You will get such a great picture of your baby!!

No, I am not getting the NT because, although you get great pics, there have been way too many false positives for Downes on the finger prick test. and I just wouldn't be able to handle the stress of what I would have to go through if there is a false positive. And, I wouldn't get the amnio. However, I am getting the AFP test, because the Dr. said that is more for spinal bfida, which they need to know about.

I haven't had a sono since 20 weeks, and my dr doesn't expect me to have any more...

Gotcha .. I know the screenings are purely a personal decision, I know I struggle with each and every decision in this process. It's so hard to know what is best sometimes..

I am 26 1/2 weeks and everytime I go the Dr (which is every 3 weeks) he does a mini sono in which we get to hear the heartbeat and see the baby. We usually get a picture to keep on each visit.

I'm going for mine next Monday (May 8th) - it didn't appear optional at all. He just said your scheduled for your ultrasceen on this day, with this doctor. I had no idea I didn't have to do it. I think I would anyway.
