Don't know how to correct this...
Whenever my parents or siblings come over to my house with any of their dogs, my dog gets super protective of me. If we go out and come back, he will "attack" the other dog if they try to greet me while he is greeting me. He doesn't actually bite them but growls and chases them away. If I'm sitting on the floor with him, he'll growl at any of them if they try to come near me. It only happens at my house. If we are at my parents or siblings house, he doesn't do it. I don't know how to correct it because my family doesn't come here a lot and when they do, it's usually for a party and it is rare that either I leave and return for a greeting or have time to sit and play. The dogs are all toy breeds, and I have the only male. I know it is a show of dominance but can I correct the behavior when it happens so infrequently? Any ideas?

I would try to be very calm.. Command your dog to sit and stay. while the other dogs greet you.. Keep doing this and be persistant dont just let him get up. After your the other dogs are done then invite him over to greet you last . It might sound mean but what you are doing is showing him You are the pack leader.. HTH

Re: Don't know how to correct this...
You have to do other things to show you are a pack leader at all times and by that I mean take care of this issue even when the other dogs are not there. However, that may be easier said than done. I am glad that my dog does get along with other dogs but having them at our house is a bit of a crapshoot. He is different here. He seemed okay with a friend's dog when they came here together after being at the dog park but I am not even sure that would work with some of the other dogs we have tried to have over.
