New tub and tiles question
How much work, time and money on average go into retiling a shower wall and putting in a new tub, not high end tiles and tubs, just something basic.

we bought GORGEOUS LARGE tiles from home depot, grout, tile spacers, paint, glaze, etc.. (no tub or fixtures) for $500.00 from HD. we had a 10% off coupon at the time. we didn't chintz out either.
no clue on a tub. but if you DIY, you'll save a boat load... could get away with 3K and under...

Oh wow, is re-tiling a bathroom a possible DIY project? The house we made the offer on has a bathroom with terrible old tiles in the back half and terrible new wallpaper in the front.

Re: New tub and tiles question
We didn't do it ourselves, but we bought most of the materials when we had our bathroom redone.
We went with subway tile and they are only 22 cents each at Lowe's. We bought almost everything there (floor tiles, grout, light fixture, etc.) and used a "new homeowner" 10% off coupon (we pick them up at the post office all the time! ) and saved a ton of money.

Everything can be a DIY. Depends on your skill. I grew up in a house where everything was DIY and DH and I are doing everything in our house ourselves.
Tile might not be the first DIY project I would tackle if you are not handy but you can read up and watch how to vids and you should be able to do it.

I think just the Lowe's, but a previous poster said HD will take Lowe's coupons! If you go in and ask for a change of address form/packet (some post offices have them out so you can just grab them), there is a coupon inside for 10% off your total purchase at Lowe's.
Based on the number of times we have grabbed packets, we have "changed our address" about 5 times! Haha.

About the mail packets--- my Dh who works in the PO said,... ask your mail man for the "forwarding packet" or just go directly to the PO and they will give you one.
Hope I helped!

Re: New tub and tiles question
you can also buy 20% off friends and family coupons on ebay. You just have to be careful that they send you the whole letter.
We tiled the shower wall in our first place and it was a PITA!!! vertical services are harder - plus we used 12x12 tiles, which were heavier. but it is a pretty cheap project.

Re: New tub and tiles question
It wasn't that bad Mel and we had to re-do an entire wall! I honestly cannot remember how much it cost but Matt did all the tiling himself and a new tub isn't as expensive as you'd think!
